Big Brother Canada 7 - Maki Exit Interview

March 15, 2019

Feeds were down for a few hours prior to the eviction. What took place during that time, and did you think that you had the votes?

Maki: I still was confident in myself and in the people that believed in me, but it was a scramble in the last couple of hours. When you feel like you have all of the time in the world, you don’t really rush to campaign. I started doubting myself and doubting other people. I literally thought I had 8-9 votes, if not the whole house, at one point. When it came down to it, I was dropping 9-8-7-6, and it came to a point where I was like “all I need is just five”. Dane swore he would keep me in.

Adam revealed in his goodbye message that he is aligned with Anthony, Dane and Mark. What are your thoughts on that, and do you think it was a good move for that particular alliance to evict you?

Maki: I had no idea, first of all. I felt like Adam was kind of a solo dolo guy. I didn’t really expect him to team up with another big guy. I had no clue at all. I think it is a very good idea for them to get me out. Without even knowing the game very well, I feel like I left my mark there. I proved my worth through competitions and social game in general. Ultimately I would have came after them as well.

What are your thoughts on the guys trying to get you to target Sam now that you know about that alliance?

Maki: I think we still could have convinced Adam to go after Sam, cause she definitely stirred a lot of trouble in the house. She is a threatening player because of what she whispers into other people’s ears and how she can get into people’s heads. Ultimately Adam is a boys boy. Dane also is a persuasive dude. It’s probably in their best benefit to get Sam out as quick as possible.

Would you have followed through with nominating Cory and Sam had you stayed, or did you have other plans?

Maki: 100%. I am a man of my word, man. I would have went through with Cory and Sam 100%.

Arisa asked you who you feel most betrayed by. You didn't have an answer for her then. After having a night to think about it, do you have an answer now?

Maki: Yeah, you are right. In the moment I was kind of overwhelmed by it all. I am most betrayed by Dane. Dane swore on his father that he would hold himself and myself accountable if anything happened. He said for sure I am not going home. He swore on something so much bigger than him. Unfortunately for me, if it’s something that big, I will take your word for it. It was a big betrayal.

You often mentioned that you are new to the game and don't know how it works. Now that you know what you know, what would your strategy be could you start over on Day 1?

Maki: Honestly, it wouldn’t have been much different. What I did was very true to myself. The only difference, I guess, knowing all this stuff now is I would have been much more choice with my words. I would have been more silent and considered what I said 1v1 with people as opposed to have two people in the room or three people in the room. Ultimately I feel like I was just naive. I realized that pretty much everyone is an enemy.

As it stands right now, who do you think is in the best position to win?

Maki: I totally respect Adam’s superiority. He is unmatched when it comes to competitions. Not only is he big and strong but he is also fast. I would love nothing more than to get the big guys out and have the underdogs come in and take over. Someone like Este, for example. She is very grounded. I would love to see someone like her or Kiki take it all.
