BBCAN5 - Gary Levy Exit Interview

April 7, 2017

Why do you think that Demetres decided to evict you?

Gary: I think the other side of the house got in Demetres’ head and they told him “Gary is a big target. He is on the block. Take the opportunity to get him out now”.

When you walked through the doors, which of the vets were you most excited to see and work with?

Gary: Ika. I was so excited to see her. Me and my mom and my friends said “oh my God, we feel like you and Ika’s personalities would have been great in the game”. I’m really happy I was able to have that opportunity to work with her in this game, cause I really do love her. She is just so fun. It was cool that I got to play with her.

Which vets were you not looking forward to being in the house with?

Gary: No one. That thought didn’t really cross my mind, to be honest. It was more like “yes, Ika, yes!”.

You were the only vet not to have someone else from their season. Do you think this put you at a disadvantage?

Gary: No. I just think it was what it was. I think even if there was someone from my season, I don’t really know how to play with pairs. I kind of always end up alone cause that’s the kind of game I play, so it’s hard to say but I don’t think so.

Vets have now been evicted in three consecutive weeks. Are you surprised that the other vets are quickly allowing themselves to become outnumbered?

Gary: No, because there are stronger alliances outside of the veterans that are really strong and together as one. You know, it just happened this way. I don’t think the vets were really able to come together and stick together because everyone had their own thing. We just weren’t able to keep it together. It crumbled really quickly.

After Emily called Cassandra the villain of the season, you said "you dont know who the villain is until you watch the show”. Though you haven’t watched, who do you think the villain of the season is?

Gary: To be honest, everyone that I lived with had a villainous moment. You never really know until you watch the show. I don’t know cause everyone was a little shady at times!

After Cassandra’s eviction, you told Dre that Neda “thinks she is all that and that she can treat people any type of way” cause she got the immunity from Canada. How do you see the game going for Neda once her immunity is up?

Gary: I think Neda is definitely in trouble once her immunity goes up. No one has been able to touch her or work with her in a sense of putting her up on the block or anything. I definitely think she is in trouble once the rest of the house gets to the future with her.

Your side had opportunities to rally votes to save Dallas, Cassandra and yourself, to some extent. Why do you think there has been an unwillingness to go against the house?

Gary: I don’t think that there was an unwillingness. It always came down to Demetres not wanting to make these moves. He just was not down to save Dallas and not down to save Cassandra. That’s why those things did not happen. Everyone else was down and was willing to make those moves.

You received 48 chips in the slop vote. What was going through your head when you saw that?

Gary: I honestly was heartbroken. It really crushed me to see all of those slop cookies in one basket and to see the reactions of people’s faces putting them in. There was joy in people’s faces, which is really sick to me. They know how I am on slop. I don’t know if they wanted to see a reaction or to see me sad. Like I was saying, no one was in my tax bracket. I had 48 damn chips and no one else was with me. It was a depressing moment. That was probably one of the lows of being in the house. It was a sad moment, but thank God it was backwards week! My life stayed gourmet and I made nice dinners for myself so ha ha!

What was the most surprising thing about what you saw when Big Brother revealed how everyone voted in the slop vote?

Gary: It surprised me that Kevin put chips in his own thing. I mean, who does that? Who voluntarily wants to go on slop? With Kevin it is always game. It was kind of funny to see his strategy exposed.

You seemed a bit surprised when Ika told you that Kevin does not have your back. Were you loyal to him or were you playing him too?

Gary: I always knew Kevin was looking out for him and he does what he needs to do to stay in the game. I wanted to just play the same thing on my side. If push came to shove, I wouldn’t go after Kevin before I would other targets in the game, but I wasn’t willing to not make that move if it were to come. I do like Kevin as a person. I’m interested to see if a friendship will grow outside of the house.

In her goodbye message, Karen said you were her only true friend in there. What was it about Karen that made you two connect so well?

Gary: I’m an old soul and I really connected with Karen as a person. I really loved all of the nuggets of wisdom that I was able to receive from her. She has lived such a beautiful, adventurous life. I really liked to learn from people who have been through things, so I don’t make the same mistakes they did. I tried to just get everything I could out of her. She was so genuine and she really kept it real with me. She told me how she felt. Sometimes I didn’t want to hear it but she still told me. I really respected that about Karen. She is just amazing. I really love her. It’s funny that we look so different on the outside but there is a lot of similarities that me and Karen have. I don’t agree with everything that Karen stands for but she says it and believes it. She has some very strong opinions. I think that just comes with maturity being able to say “I don’t agree with this but I still love you, girl”. I really love Karen. I’m sad that she doesn’t have me in the house right now. It’s going to be a little bit tough for her.

You would often mention that you were playing the game alone. Did you ever feel that you had a true #1 ally that you could rely on?

Gary: I do. I feel like I had several. I feel like those several people could have become a group. I did have moments with Dre. I felt like she was real and I was real with her. I felt like I had it with William, I felt that I was really good with Karen, I was really good with Ika. Yeah, just those people.

What about Cassandra?

Gary: Cassandra! Oh my God, how could I forget? Yeah, we were like “The Tortoise and the Hare”. That didn’t really work out too well but we were really close. There was a bunch of us. If we had formed earlier, we would have been just as strong and decisions like Demetres’ vote to evict wouldn’t have happened if we were stronger earlier.

You mentioned wanting to target Neda. Had her immunity been up, was she truly your #1 target?

Gary: If it was after the veto speech, no because I like to keep my word and stick to it. I think it benefits you if you do make it to the end to say “I had these promises and I did these things and kept my word”. I think keeping your word in this game is really important because it can come in handy when you need it later on. So if this is after the veto speech, I would not have come after Neda. I told her I wouldn’t.

Who would you have targeted?

Gary: Probably Bruno because I feel like he lied to my face a lot. I didn’t like that. I think he was insulting my intelligence in thinking that I wasn’t able to grasp things that were so obvious to understand in the game.

Who do you think the biggest threat to win the game is?

Gary: I don’t think they are threatening at all, but William. I think he is just gliding by with an amazing social game. He is just a loveable person to live with and be around. I don’t think people really look at him as a competitor. I don’t think he is threatening. I think he is unthreatening and that’s what makes him so attractive to be in the Final 2 and potentially win this whole game.

Who do you want to win the game?

Gary: That’s tough. I would have to give it to three people. Karen, Ika and William. They can all share the prize and split it in three.
